Non-Surgical Nose Job: PDO Thread Lift Vs Dermal Fillers

A non-surgical nose job is becoming such a popular choice for nasal augmentation. For a lot of people, invasive nose surgery can turn off completely and outweigh the benefits it’ll have on their confidence.

Your nose is one of your distinct facial features. Regardless of its shape or width, it contributes to what makes you unique. While some love their nose, some may see theirs as a cause of insecurity.  Thanks to advancements in technology, there are now non-surgical ways to augment your nose: through dermal fillers or PDO threads. Sounds pretty cool, right?

For people to feel more confident about themselves, rhinoplasty or nose reshaping surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. Even a little improvement in the size or shape of the nose can have a huge impact on the overall facial appearance and confidence of someone.

For a lot of people, invasive nose surgery can turn off completely and outweigh the benefits it’ll have on their confidence. This is why non-surgical nose jobs are becoming such a popular choice for nasal augmentation!

You may be considering a non-surgical nose job if:

  • You are bothered by the appearance of your nose.
  • You have a dorsal hump (bump in your bridge) or a poorly defined nasal tip.
  • There are dents, depressions or grooves on your nose that you wish to improve.
  • The tip of your nose droops, requiring elevation.
  • You wish to raise and better define a flat bridge.
  • You would like to diminish the appearance of a rounded nose tip.

Nose Enhancement using Dermal Fillers

This process is done by injecting a gel-like substance, specifically, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) into the tip and bridge of your nose to add shape and structure. If you want to know more about the benefits of dermal fillers, you may click here!

PDO/Nose Thread Lift

A nose thread lift consists of inserting polydioxanone (PDO) threads into the nasal bridge. These absorbable threads stimulate collagen formation when placed under the skin. The number of threads to be used varies per patient and is sometimes estimated during the consultation.

How long it will last?

If you opt for getting a nose lift by using dermal fillers, the results can last up to 12 months. A nose thread lift, on the other hand, has longer results that can remain for 1 to 2 years. If the procedure is repeated in 9 months, the effect will last longer.

If you’re thinking about how long the recovery process is going to take, you don’t have to worry. Both non-surgical nose lift options require minimal downtime. As for its effects, PDO threads last longer than dermal fillers. The Lumina’s doctor will decide which of these two can be used during the consult. It all depends on the shape of the nose and how flat the nose bridge is. The nose filler gives professionals the ability to shape your nose exactly how you want it to look like while the nose thread lift procedure caters to those who want a slimmer nose bridge, reduced width of the nose, and visible nose contour. The combination of both dermal fillers and nose PDO threads often gives you the best results.

Dermal Fillers VS Thread Lift

Nose Fillers can add height to the nose bridge and help build up a short, stubby nose.  You can have your nose sculpted the way you want it to be. It has minimal to no downtime, lasting for about 6-12 months.

If your nose is a bit off-center, has an ill-defined bridge or a large dorsal hump, fillers are for you!

Nose Threads can lift the tip of your nose, improve your nose contour, slim down your bridge, sharpen the nose, and reduce the width of the nose. Like filler, it also has minimal downtime but your nose may be sore for 2 days. This is super minimal considering that the effects of a nose thread lift last for about 1 year! If you have a wide nose bridge or you feel as though your nose could do with some more definition, then; nose threads are about to become your new soulmate.

If you don’t want to undergo surgery, both nose filler and nose thread lift are great options for you. If you have a “bumpy” nose and want a straighter nose, proceeding with a nose filler can be the way to go. If a sharper nose tip or a contoured nose sounds more desirable, you can opt for a nose thread lift. Although both choices can successfully alter your nose, you may also go for combination treatment in order to achieve the best possible nose for you. But here’s to expect after the treatment, mild redness and swelling will occur in the treated area. Some patients can experience tenderness in the nose for about three to five days. Any side effects will subside in a few days. Results may be sustainable for 6 to 12 months or even 2 years, depending on your choice of treatment!

After the treatment, we may recommend a follow-up visit one week after the initial treatment.

One more thing to improve your non-surgical nose job is Botox. Yes, BOTOX! Do you believe that BOTOX can make your nostrils smaller or slimmer?

Many people are interested in non-surgical rhinoplasty as an alternative to an invasive nose job. Botox treatments can help improve the appearance of the nose without needing to go under the knife.

Botox to slim the nose is not about physically altering the shape of the nose, as with a surgical rhinoplasty. Rather, by limiting the muscles near the sides of the nose with Botox, the nose can appear slimmer. This “Botox nose job” is often paired with Botox for the nose tip, which can dip if the muscles used to smile pull down on the nose.
