Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, refers to the portion of your blood that contains platelets and growth factors. These elements of our blood are essential for tissue healing and repair. The PRP treatment utilises these elements to rejuvenate the skin, giving it a natural boost. The growth factors help with collagen stimulation which helps to reduce the signs of ageing and skin damage such as acne scars.
Treatment with platelet-rich blood plasma is unique in that the blood used comes from the patient himself. Platelets are part of the blood that plays a role in blood clotting. Apart from being important for blood clotting, platelets contain proteins known as growth factors. This factor has a very important role in the wound healing process.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is plasma that has been enriched with platelets. One of the advantages that PRP has is its ability to build healing bones and soft tissues. Besides being practised in cases of injury, PRP therapy has also been applied in the world of beauty.
PRP Treatment Process
The treatment process with PRP includes taking the patient's blood, processing the patient's blood into PRP, and injecting PRP into the patient's body. At least two weeks before this procedure, the patient will be monitored for not taking anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin or ibuprofen.
Furthermore, the patient's blood will be drawn as much as 20-60 milliliters. Then, the blood will be put into a rotating device called a centrifuge for one of the components in it. From the amount of blood drawn from this process, several millimeters of platelet-rich blood plasma are obtained.
After that, the patient is given anesthetic cream. PRP fluid is then injected around the injured or injured area. This PRP injection procedure may cause mild pain and irritation in the area that was given the injection, for 2-3 days after injection.
The PRP process at Lumina Aesthetics, takes approximately 60 minutes.
What can the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment be used for?
Improve skin texture conditions
PRP injection therapy has been applied as a treatment to remove wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and droopy skin on the eyes, hands, neck and face. Unlike injectable fillers that use synthetic ingredients, PRP improves skin defects with the growth of new cell growth and new collagen. PRP therapy also generally does not cause a reaction because it comes from the patient's own body, but this procedure can pose a risk of infection.
PRP use may also be effective in the treatment of hormone-induced androgenic alopecia. Androgenic alopecia can occur in both men and women. This occurs due to the gradual susceptibility of hair to susceptibility. However, further research is still needed to prove the ability of PRP injections in the treatment of baldness.
PRP has a variety of uses in different medical fields. It is widely used in dermatological and aesthetic practices as it is especially useful for conditions such as facial and neck rejuvenation, fine lines and wrinkles as well as stretch marks and scars. Here at Lumina Aesthetics Clinic Bali, we offer, where appropriate, PRP treatment for the following conditions:
- Skin rejuvenation
- Hair loss treatment
- Anti-Aging treatment
- Post laser
PRP is also used in cardiac surgery to promote successful wound healing following operations. It is used in dentistry and orthopaedic surgery to reduce bleeding, enhance soft tissue healing and bone regeneration. PRP has been used successfully in the treatment and care of diabetic ulcers to promote wound healing. It is also used in sports medicine, neurosurgery and general surgery.
Why use Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
PRP can be used anywhere on the body. It can also be used in conjunction with other treatments. As PRP involves using your own blood, it is very safe and there are minimal risks of adverse reactions, rejection or complications. There has been lots of research to show that PRP is an effective treatment with minimal side effects. Possible side effects include minimal swelling, bruising and redness for 12-24 hours and minor bruising around needle sites can be present for a few days.
How many Treatments will I need to get My #SkinGoals?
Each person’s body reacts differently to any treatment which means that responses to treatments vary. On average people have between 1 and 3 sessions. Your appointments will be 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your clinician will advise you on how many treatments are needed dependant on your requirements and skin type. There is no limit to the number of PRP treatments you can have but on average results last up to 18 months. Touch-up treatments will maintain the results.
Rejuvenating your skin in a safe and Natural Way
The PRP treatment is a completely natural procedure using your own blood. Only a small amount of the blood is needed for the procedure. It is then spun and processed in our centrifuge to extract the PRP rich in growth factors which are needed for the treatment. There are no animal products or foreign materials used in the treatment.
The PRP treatment is very safe. Because the growth factors come from your own body and there is no application of anything unnatural there is no risk of asymmetry or allergy to the treatment. It is also suitable for all skin types.
Based on your skin type, problem areas and overall wellness goals, our team will help you determine what therapy treatments would work best to help you get the results you’re looking for. From PRP therapy treatments to Laser Pico, we’ll walk you through all of your therapy and treatment options so you can enjoy your beautiful skin for years to come.
